festive day in china

what  made me want to research more about all the different types of festivals that are held in china is really finding out about it while researching my previous topic which was about culture and cuisine in china and why I  chose it was I wanted to do something that I could really put out a lot of information about and frankly there was not enough information on cuisine to do that but I knew that in china they had a lot of different types of festivals and I could do a lot with that my pal named amber really didn't mention a lot about it in her letter or her responses back to me so I have two secondary sources about festivals.

Festivals is a huge in china it is a reminder of the sacrifice and honor of the Chinese people and I think that is an amazing thing to do for the people it shows that what the people do matter and they are not forgotten about by the government, an example of a festival is the dragon boat festival it is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month, it is celebrated because a famous poet committed suicide by throwing himself in the river as a protest so dragon boat is a way to remember the heroicness and the life and death of famous Chinese scholars. this is one of many different types of festivals in china and they race boats and eat rice and dumplings and to cherish the man who this day is all  about http://www.china.org.cn/english/features/Festivals/78316.htm, http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/china/dragon-boat-festival,

my opinion on all of these is I agree I think it is a good thing what they are doing for the people it really shows they care about the people and want to give back but it also shows what the people will do as one if they are mistreated and that shows a lot it self.so I think we should have festivals in America and should take on some of the Chinese customs as a whole.

Face to face

The videos really showed me how people judge other people in the world just based On what they look like and that is a horrible thing how we blame people who had no part in what happened based on where they are from and what there beliefs are I don't think anyone should be so scared that they feel like they are on house arrest and don't leave there house just cause some crazy group decided to do something stupid  it really opened up my eyes as am individual and showed me that there is something wrong and it should change

Reading response #4

this book that I have been hooked on for a little bit now is called If I grow up and so far in the book the cousin of the leader of one of the gangs is killed by the other rival gang and it is right out side the main characters apartment and DeShawn is in the sixth grade he is used to the sounds of gunshots going off and people dying  and he doesn't like it in the projects and he wants to get out but all his friends and family live here and one day his teacher talks to him about going to this school in a better area where he could get out and get a better education cause he really does care about his education not like all the other kids.

"by the age of twelve, seeing dead folks was nothing new. The gangbanger who lay glassy eyed in a pool of blood in the lobby. the lady who was stabbed and crawled down four flights of stairs, leaving a long brownish red trail before she bled out" this really shows how kids in the projects really see everything and it tends to be normal for them but take a kid who hasn't he couldn't imagine what it would be like to witness it I think this is why he wrote a book like this to get the point across that not every kid grows up the same way.

the picture I chose was bullets because this whole book so far has been based off of killing people and gangs and the imagines that come to my mind is bullets
